Notice is given that Bath and North East Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 intends to make an order the effect of which will be to restrict traffic in the following roads:
a) by temporarily suspending the prohibition of driving between Westgate Street and Monmouth Street, Bath;
b) by temporarily suspending the one-way restriction in Saw Close between its junction with Westgate Street and its junction with Upper Borough Walls to allow the two way flow of traffic;
c) by temporarily suspending the one-way restriction in Westgate Buildings between its junction with Monmouth Street and a line in the carriageway extending from the boundary between 1-3 Westgate Buildings and 4 Westgate Buildings to allow the two way flow of traffic in this section of highway only.
This order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road and it will enable long vehicles servicing premises in Westgate Street and named highways to leave the general area without encountering further restrictions in or after Saw Close and points beyond in the one-way system. To enable long vehicles serving local businesses, the private development and highway works in Saw Close that cannot proceed further for the same reason to legally reverse in Saw Close and part of Westgate Buildings and leave the area via Monmouth St. Marshalling personnel will be available to supervise manoeuvres in the carriageway and will be operative from 18th August 2017 for a maximum period of 1 year. The road will only be restricted as and when traffic signs are in position and may not be effected for the whole of the period but only for so long as is necessary to execute the works. This is anticipated to be for a period of 10 months.
