If you are a resident of Bath and North East Somerset, you are entitled to free entry to the Roman Baths and Fashion Museum, every day, all the year round. The two museums are open daily throughout the year, except 25 and 26 December. You simply need to show your Discovery Card to receive free entry. The Victoria Art Gallery, also run by Bath and North East Somerset Council, is free to the first floor permanent collection and temporary exhibitions in the lower gallery.
During July and August, the Roman Baths are open until 10pm (last admission 9pm). As darkness falls, the ruins of this vast Roman building are an awesome sight. By the light of flickering torches, you can walk on 2000 year old pavements beside the steaming pool. Avoid the daytime crowds and soak up this magical atmosphere at your leisure, an unforgettable and unique experience.
Issue of Discovery Cards at the Roman Baths occasionally ends at 4.30pm to accommodate evening events.
The Resident's Discovery Card makes it easy for local residents to visit their Council-run museums free of charge. It is available at no cost to adults age 17+ and children age 14+ (under 14s go free with an adult cardholder) and is valid for three years, from any of the following locations:
Bath One Stop Shop, 3-4 Manvers Street, Bath, BA1 1JQ
Fashion Museum, Bennett Street, Bath, BA1 2QH
The Roman Baths main entrance hall, Abbey Churchyard, Bath, BA1 1LZ
Victoria Art Gallery, Bridge Street, Bath, BA2 4AT
Keynsham One Stop Shop, Civic Centre, Market Walk, Keynsham, BS31 1FS
The Hollies One Stop Shop, High Street, Midsomer Norton, BA3 2DP
The Roman Baths is extremely busy during school holidays and Bank Holidays and there is likely to be a significant wait until your application for a Discovery Card can be processed. During these times, it may be preferable to go to the One Stop Shop in Manvers Street (open Monday-Friday), Fashion Museum or Victoria Art Gallery (open daily).
Your Resident's Discovery Card is also recognised in a range of independent heritage attractions in the Bath & North East Somerset area that provide discounted or free entry to local residents. Where else can you use your card? A wide range of attractions and organisations are participating, click the link on the left (Discovery Card: Where you can use it) for full details, or the PDF link on the right for a shortened "at a glance" version.
If you give us your email address, we will send you a newsletter occasionally with details of special events and new discounts or offers.
